Do I need a referral or a doctor's order?
Not to get started. In Texas, you can see a physical therapist directly — no physician referral needed for your initial evaluation and the first 30 days of treatment. If we continue beyond that, I'll need an order from a referring provider, and I can help coordinate that when the time comes. If you plan to submit to insurance for out-of-network reimbursement, your insurer may also ask for a diagnosis code — we'll handle that together.
Will my insurance cover any of this?
I don't bill insurance directly, but I provide a detailed superbill after each visit that you can submit to your insurance company for out-of-network reimbursement. Many PPO plans reimburse a meaningful portion — it's worth a 5-minute call to your insurer to ask about your out-of-network physical therapy benefits before your first visit. HSA and FSA cards are accepted at time of service.
What actually happens at the first appointment?
Your first visit is 90 minutes in your home. We start with a full conversation about your history, symptoms, and goals — nothing is rushed. Then I do a hands-on assessment of your pelvic floor, core, posture, and movement patterns. Internal examination is offered but always optional and never required. You leave with a clear explanation of what's going on in your body and a personalized plan — not a generic printout.
I'm postpartum — or years past it. Is pelvic floor PT still for me?
Absolutely. If you're early postpartum, we can start gentle work right away — breathing, core reconnection, scar tissue management — with internal work typically beginning after your 6-week clearance. But pelvic floor issues don't expire. Whether your youngest is 6 months or 16 years old, if you're dealing with leaking, pain, pressure, or things that just don't feel right, it's never too late. Many of my clients are women who finally have the bandwidth to focus on themselves after years of putting their own health last.
What if my baby needs attention during the session?
Feed them, soothe them, hold them — we work around it. This is one of the biggest advantages of in-home care. Your baby doesn't need to be anywhere else, and neither do you. Sessions are designed to be flexible because I know what real life looks like for moms.
How many sessions will I need?
It genuinely depends on what's going on. Many of my clients see meaningful improvement in 4–6 sessions. Some conditions resolve faster, some take longer. I'll give you an honest estimate at your first visit based on your specific presentation — not a number designed to fill my schedule.
